Remember the question you were asked as a child- If you could have one superhero power, what would it be? My answer has always been the same, to time travel. I’d go through what I like to call “time travel phases,” while sticking to a hard rule of nothing after 1900 and strictly European. Responses would be “the Renaissance,” “Tudor time period,” “Victorian era,” or “the French Revolution,” just to name a few. In my ripe age of 25, I have expanded my time travel rules to more countries, time periods, and social movements. I think back and wonder if this simple question of your preferred superhuman feature, could have been a precursor to what my adult life would be like. My name is Colleen Kinsey and this is my blog.

I’ve always craved a new adventure and find myself planning my next vacation while I’m on the current. Each trip more items are added to my bucket list than the number that are crossed off. I find myself getting lost in travel blogs and articles about couples backpacking through Asia. The more I read the more I want to leave my comfortable life in Kansas City and pursue the world. This desire could chalked up to Millennial flightiness, but I’m not sure it’s something I’ll grow out of.

I have friends that are completely satisfied with settling down, getting married, buying a house, and starting a family all before the age of 30. To me this sounds like a binding contract, signed in blood, and probably sealed with a secret Mafia handshake. How do I get rid of a mortgage, if I decide to sail around the world? First step, learn how to sail- see bucket list. Who’s going to watch my snot nosed kids? My parents are nice, but not THAT nice. The friends that are blissfully happy in the social norm type of set up think that I am 100% crazy. Notice, I’m not arguing that I’m not crazy..

This blog is my way of committing to my bucket list and pursuing the adventure. Maybe this is my own form of time travel. My own super hero power. Follow me as I try to figure out how to make my dream a reality. Instead of living from one vacation to the next, I want to create a life where every day is a vacation and part of the adventure.
